The cold air of night was like an invitation. A greeting, a bait to make the great beast want to move an search. The ground below its huge feet crumbled like ash and thundered as it crawled over the forest like grass, crushing the great oak trees beneath its feet. Searching the sky with his bright azure eyes, the dragon flickered its massive sickly tongue to taste the air.
There were beasts nearby.
Pausing for a moment as shouts were heard off in the distance, the beast glanced around; the air against its face made him lightheaded and calm. Smeeling a stench and catching a scent, Xyzion proceeded forth with no care for the growth below. Off in a small paddock nearby were cattle, asleep from a long day of grazing on the weeds. If the reptile was to edge any closer they would certainly smell him. Flashing out and extending his tongue it slithered through the air like a serpent. Ever extending outwards in a silent stalk.
With one small flick, the sticky tongue picked up one of the cows and coiled its tongue around its body; crushing it with one measly pulse. One small cow would not satisfy his hunger; he was defently sure of.

Unbeknownst to Xyzion, another dragon was nearby, his large, orange yellow eyes narrowed at the sight of the other wyrm. His nostrils flared. Shadow dragons were not commonly seen, even in the dragonarmies of Lord Ariakas. Skie was intrigued by the sight, even as he wondered what the black wyrm, even larger than he, was doing here this night.
Kitiara had left him for the night. That, or he desired privacy. It did not matter. Skie was here, away from the eyes of the common mortals, and in his dragon form. His powerful, blue-scaled dragon form, with its lightning breath, long, stuck-like horns and sharp fangs and claws.
He was powerful. Invincible.
Watching the shadow dragon feed, Skie decided to reveal himself. Or, more to the point, he decided that the time had come to satisfy his curiousity. With a beat of his large, midnightblue wings, the blue dragon soared down to land beside the shadow dragon.
"Who are you that feeds here?" The swift Blue asked, with a proud toss of his ivory horned head.

Hearing the faint beat of wings as the dragon crunched on the cows body and swallowed it whole, it turned its black spiked head as blood dripped down from his jaw. Its electrical blue eyes lit up as it saw another dragon come into view. It looked like a blue one and seemed quite big but not as big as he. Of course he wasnt foolish enough to be in his true sizefor it would make all mortal men aware of his presence with his thundering footsteps.
As the dragon landed down onto the ground and tossed its head proudly the beast simply just licked its jaws. It had been at least 17 months since he saw another. Sleeping in a cave had its downfalls.
Turning its body as its scales began to flicker and become slightly see-through it rose its head up and spoke in a tone that sounded like a 1000 deep voices all speaking at once.
[glow=red,2,300]" I have many....names....but you may address me as Xyzion. Serpent of the Shadowlands.[/glow]
The dragon tilted its head curiously as it stepped one foot forward.
[glow=red,2,300]And...you are?....[/glow]

The blue dragon watched, fascinated, as the shadow dragon in front of him, Xyzion if that was his real name, seem to become less...real, somehow. It took a few moments before Skie realized that the shadow dragon seemed to become exactly that: a shadow. Still the mighty Blue had no doubts that Xyzion would still be quite dangerous, and very solid.
The dragon's voice was impressive. Very impressive. But voices did not scare Skie, unless it was the voice of Her Dark Majesty in anger. Or perhaps even the Dark Lady, Kitiara uth Matar, and Skie's rider.
"And...you are?...."
"Skie."
The blue dragon's voice was less impressive, sounding as one, and only one voice. Still, his voice was strong and firm, if a bit raspy, similar to a snarl to the ears of common mortals, but deep and powerful to another wyrm. He spoke in the dragon tongue of course.

[glow=red,2,300]Skie is it?[/glow]
The dragons blue eyes narrowed as it stepped yet another foot forward. Smelling this dragon he could tell it had charisma and was proud; unlike many others whose spirit had been broken by mortals and bodies alike. Usually dragons like this one would travel in packs; hunting groups but this Skie was solitary.
[glow=red,2,300] And tell me, Skie ... [/glow]
The beast curled its lips as it widened its eyes again, licking just the trickle of blood streaming from its fangs.
[glow=red,2,300] Why you are alone ? [/glow]

Skie's lip curled into the dragonish version of a sneer. His nostrils flared, and a small spark of electricity shot out, and vanished just as abruptly. His long tail lashed, but as he had used his many magics to shrink himself down to a more managable size, he didn't knock over any trees. It wasn't his idea to shrink himself, but Kitiara had insisted. And Queen Takhisis had firmly mantained the 'secrecy at all costs' in these territories that were not yet conquered.
Skie stared hard at the other dragon, a low growl rumbling from deep in his throat.
"Why should I not be alone?" He countered, eyeing Xyzion warily. He found that he was starting to dislike this shadow wyrm.

Seeing the electrical buzz surge out of the nostril of this dragon Xyzion narrowed his eyes. His instincts were always at the utmost attention and he could tell this dragon didnt like to be questioned. Swiveling its tail in a curious fashion the beast proceeded with the answer.
[glow=red,2,300]Blue dragons usually travel in packs like dogs. Its been centuurriiieess since i saw one [/glow]
He growled deep in the back of his throat. Stepping a talon forward as he studied the blue one. Electrical powers he thought as he smelt the air.
[glow=red,2,300]Being alone in a dangerous world is entertaining, not? [/glow]
He asked this because of his entire life based on being independant. Other dragons in the old days would come in large numbers but this one was all by himself.
Curious indeed....
