Full Name: Lauralanthalasa Kanan
Age: 150 (June 7, 271 AC-421 AC)
Race: Qualinesti Elf
Gender: Female
Magic: Can mentally communicate with Griffons.
Birthplace: Qualinost
Strengths:
Laurana is honest, virtuous, and faithful to the gods of light. She evolves into a determined leader and proves herself to also be an excellent commander.
Weaknesses:
Laurana is spoiled and very naïve about the world outside of Qualinesti due to her privileged upbringing in the Royal family. She is also blindly in love with Tanis Half-Elven and this love usually results in her making bad choices. She is often quick to anger and lets her emotions get the better of her.
Description:
A young elf woman, built like most women of her race, willow thin with delicate refined features and full pouting lips. She has long golden blonde hair and large almond shaped eyes that change color like leaves in sunshine. Her skin is smooth and woodland brown.
Weapons:
Frostreaver, sword and bow.
History:
Laurana is the youngest child and only daughter of Solostaran Kanan, the Speaker of the Sun, and is sister to Porthios and Gilthanas Kanan. She spent her young years leading the privileged and sheltered life of a member of the royal house of Qualinesti, until the companions arrived in Qualinost. She joins them and assists in freeing the slaves from Pax Tharkas. She stayed with the companions as they ventured to Tarsis and during this time listens to Elistan’s teachings about the old Gods.
The companions get separated when the Red Dragon Army attacks Tarsis and Laurana ventures to Icereach where she assists in attaing a dragon orb and a broken dragon lance.
She then travels to the Isle of Sancrist but on the way is captured by Silvanesti elves. She is turned over to the Qualinesti in Southern Ergoth. She helps the others escape and on the way to Solmania finds out that the legendary dragonlances exist.
She goes to a meeting of the Whitestone council and then heads to the High Clersts Tower to defend it from the Blue Dragon Army. She proves her talent as a military leader, earns a place as a Somanic knight and a silver dragon as a mount.
She heads to Kalaman and then to Neraka and is reunited with Tanis.
She and Tanis marry and have one son, Gilthas. Tanis is killed in the Chaos War and she assists her son as the “puppet king” of Qualinesti. During the War of Souls she dies defending Qualinesti from the green dragon Beryl.

Tanis took a step forward. The sharp blade pierced his skin. Helpless, he stopped. Laurana smiled sadly.
“You see Tanis? I’m not the love-sick child you knew. I’m not my father’s daughter, living in my father’s court. I’m not even the Golden General. I am Laurana. And I will live or die on my own without your help.”
“Laurana listen to me!” Tanis pleaded, taking another step toward her, reaching up to thrust aside the sword blade that cut into his skin.
He saw Laurana’s lips press together tightly, her green eyes glinted. Then, sighing, she slowly lowered the sword blade to his armor-plated chest. Tanis smiled. Laurana shrugged and, with a swift thrust, shoved him backward off the platform.
